It seems as if Mercedes-Benz never ceases to wow consumers with their offerings.  The new AMG C-Class Coupe has left the staff at The Tech Herald in awe based on their review of the upcoming model. Besides noting the C-Class’ “jaw-dropping good looks”, the review goes on to call attention to the impressive specs which can be found under the hood as well.

The 6.2-litre V-8 engine, which boasts a powerful 509 bhp, is capable of hitting 62 mph in only 4.2 seconds! The new AMG C-Class Coupe is certainly a supercar which will turn heads on the road wherever it goes. Only Mercedes-Benz is capable of bringing such a powerful match of luxury and sport to the road, and there is no further evidence needed than the C-Class Coupe.

Although it won’t be available until later in 2012, we have tons of information on the C-Class and all other Mercedes-Benz models at our NJ Mercedes-Benz dealership.

Definitely a Mercedes-Benz that will have you looking for any excuse to take the long way home. It is a beautiful sight to see, so head to your local NJ Mercedes dealer and check it out today! Check out the following snippets from the Motor Trend article about the 2012 CLS63 AMG!

    2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG

    Source: Motor Trend

“When faced with a day’s drive back home, there are usually a few ways you can go. But when you’re in a car like the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG, there’s really only one way — the long way.

The road back from California’s famed Napa wine country — where Benz hosted another CLS-Class press inoculation — to MT HQ in L.A. offers lots of tasty options. This time down I’d peel off Highway 101 at Gilroy heading southeast on Route 25. From the 25 I’d head east onto Route 198, cutting a swath through California’s central valley farm country, then hook back onto the I-5 for the home stretch.

Routes 25 and 198 offer a wonderful mix of flat, wide-open straights and challenging kinks through practically deserted farm country. Only the stray car (and cow) heard the maniacal roar from the CLS63 AMG’s all-new 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 hurtling at them under full throttle, with the massive three-pointed star, single-strake grille, and daytime LED running lights filling up the rear view — fast.

The exterior of the new CLS63 is taut, athletic, and ready for action, with neat AMG touches including a carbon lip spoiler, more aggressive front fascia, and tasty exhaust tips nestled at each end of a black diffuser. Benz is quick to point out that design is the main reason buyers gravitate toward the Mercedes-Benz CLS, and while one-upping the first-gen car’s now iconic design was a tall order, lead designer Hubert Lee (he was that kid in your history class drawing cars) and his team have arguably pulled it off, depending upon your subjective outlook.”

    2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class News

    Monday, June 13th, 2011

For 2012 the Mercedes-Benz M-Class looks a lot like the old ML, but with significant upgrades in efficiency and style. The exterior is sleeker and more sculpted, and the most noticeable difference inside the M-Class is rectangular air vents as opposed to the round vents in prior models. The new M-Class interior brings a big increase in both quality and design with wood or metal-like plastic set in front of the passenger, along with a meaty steering wheel.  As for the mechanical side of things we decided to let the Car and Driver article speak for itself:

“At launch, Mercedes will offer two familiar six-cylinders, while the company’s new twin-turbo 4.7-liter V-8 will follow later. (We’re also told to expect another AMG version soon, as well as a gas-electric and possibly a diesel-electric hybrid.) Both V-6 models will be badged ML350. The direct-injection 3.5-liter gas engine produces 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, increases of 34 and 15 over the outgoing port-injection gas V-6, and should see economy increase 2 mpg in both the EPA city and highway cycle for estimated ratings of 17/22; the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel in the BlueTec is now good for 240 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque, up 30 hp and 55 lb-ft, and will get an estimated 2-mpg city mpg bump for ratings of 20/25. A switch from pressed-in cylinder liners to a spray-on coating in the diesel reduces both weight and friction. Either engine comes coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Mercedes claims curb weights for the new model will be comparable to those of the outgoing ML, despite added content.”

Can’t wait for the 2012 M-Class to arrive later this year? While you can order a new Mercedes to your specifications, Ray Catena Motor Car also offers a selection of M-Class models in stock. If a model with the specific features you require is not shown, please Contact Us.

Mercedes-Benz F-CELL World Drive Returns to Stuttgart

Three Mercedes-Benz vehicles on the occasion of the 125th birthday of the automobile have crossed through 14 countries on four different continents on a World Drive. After 70 days of driving and more than 18,000 miles, the B-Class F-Cell’s have circled the globe and returned home to Stuttgart becoming the first round-the-world drive with fuel-cell vehicles.  The three hydrogen powered Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL vehicles with zero local emissions drive-lines crossed the finish line on June 1, 2011 in front of the Mercedes-Benz Museum.

    Mercedes-Benz F-Cell World Drive

The purpose of the World Drive was to establish a comprehensive network of hydrogen fueling stations – a crucial factor for the market success of this technology. So far, there are only approximately 200 fuel stations worldwide at which fuel cell vehicles can be refueled. A primary focus of Mercedes-Benz is to see to it that, in future, drivers all over the world will be able to refuel with hydrogen – just as they do today with gasoline and diesel fuel.

The exclusive partner for hydrogen supply on the F-CELL World Drive was the Linde Group. Thanks to its hydrogen knowledge and global presence, it was able to guarantee fuel supply throughout the entire trip. A jointly developed mobile refueling unit based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter accompanied the tour – the only way to ensure fuel supply even on the most remote stretches.

After 70 days of driving, participants in the F-CELL World Drive collected an abundance of travel notes documenting the multi-faceted aspects of the tour and, at the same time, underscoring the everyday usability of the fuel cell technology on board the B-Class F-CELL. The record distance of 648 kilometers was split between two stretches of more than 300 kilometers each.

The F-CELL World Drive has a direct connection to the world’s very first long-distance drive – the pioneering endeavor of Bertha Benz, who, in 1888, completed the first cross-country drive with the Benz Patent-Motorwagen from Mannheim to Pforzheim. She faced in principle a similar challenge as her successors with the B-Class F-CELL – she, too, could not exactly roll into the next fuel station and top up.

Eatontown event that celebrates breast cancer survival

EATONTOWN — More than 100 breast cancer survivors gathered in a hotel ballroom here Thursday evening to celebrate their success so far and cheer each other on in their continuing battle against the disease.

The event, held at the Doubletree Hotel, was sponsored by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation and Monmouth Medical Center’s Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation to the Komen foundation of a $150,000 check by auto dealer Ray Catena. Catena late last year donated another $150,000 to the foundation, the result of a pledge to donate $100 for every car his dealerships sold in October 2010.

“My wife cut the check,” Catena joked to the appreciative crowd.

Shirley Hwang, assistant vice president of oncology for Saint Barnabas Health System — Monmouth Medical’s parent company — said the hospital was happy to help the foundation “celebrate the survivors.”

“We wanted this event to be fun because life is wonderful,” she said.

Guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner and lessons in Zumba, a dance-based exercise system.

Nancy Healey, executive director of the central and south Jersey affiliate of the Komen foundation, noted that most of the participants arrived by themselves — the event was only for breast cancer survivors — but they very quickly made new acquaintances.

“They walk in alone, and that’s a big step for them,” said Healey, a 19-year breast cancer survivor. “And then they bond instantly.”

Do You Make These Mistakes While Driving?

    By Steve Luebke

When it comes to driving, there are a number of common mistakes the people tend to make from time to time that sometimes lead to dangerous or even fatal accidents. As a driver, It’s important to be aware of these common mistakes in order to reduce your risk of getting into a bad car accident. Here is an overview of some of the most common mistakes made by drivers on the road today:

    1. Being overconfident despite poor weather conditions: Many drivers forget that poor weather conditions require you to drive more carefully than you would in ideal conditions. It’s extremely important to understand that you need to alter the way you drive when traveling during snow storms, rain storms, foggy weather, or on icy roads. The worst accidents are ones that occur as a result of people driving too fast through poor weather conditions. Driving too fast through a rain storm can lead to fatal accidents, because your ability to abruptly stop in time to avoid hitting another vehicle is greatly reduced. This is because of the fact that the surface of most roads changes depending on things like rain and ice. Always remember to pay attention to poor weather conditions, and be on alert for other drivers who might not be paying close enough attention.

    2. Not paying attention to the road: Distracted driving is dangerous. Texting, emailing, talking, and even eating while driving can lead to dangerous accidents on the road. It’s important to remember that no matter how familiar you are with the route you take each day, you should still focus 100% of your attention on the road and your driving in general. The best way to ensure that you will have a safe driving experience is to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

    3. Following another vehicle too closely: It’s always important to keep your distance when driving behind another vehicle, especially when you’re traveling on highways. A good rule of thumb is to allow about one and a half to two cars of space in between you and the car in front of you. Allowing for this much space will prevent accidents from happening. When you have enough space in front of you, you have enough time to stop in the event of an emergency.

    4. Not using lights: One of the biggest mistakes drivers make is not using lights when they should. As a driver, you should understand that it’s important to use your lights even if it’s not dark or raining. Having your lights on will help other drivers have an easier time seeing you, and can prevent you from getting in unnecessary accidents.

    5. Driving aggressively: Driving aggressively can significantly increase your chances of getting into an accident. All drivers need to obey the rules and regulations of the road, as well as go out of their way to respect other drivers on the road. Driving aggressively on busy roads is dangerous. Make sure you always drive safely and within the speed limit of the road you are driving on.
