Mercedes SL65 AMG Anniversary CommercialMercedes AMG unveiled their latest commercial for the SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary special edition. The commercial lets us know the only place men can cry, and many of us will cry as only 45 units will be produced. The SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary edition celebrates the 45 years that passed since Mercedes started working with AMG. The Anniversary Edition is powered by a standard 6.0 liter V12 Engine with 463 kW (630 hp) at 4800 – 5400 rpm and 1000 Nm at 2300 – 4300 rpm*

The designers have created a new paint finish exclusively for the SL 65 AMG “45th ANNIVERSARY”: designo magno graphite. This grey color with its satin look helps to highlights the V12 roadster’s supremely powerful character. The matte finish brings out the contours of the aluminum body while high-gloss chrome applications add an interesting contrast.

Since its foundation in 1967, Mercedes-AMG GmbH, based in Affalterbach near Stuttgart, has been concerned with the development of motor racing and engine technologies. Numerous successes in the field of motorsport and an excellent reputation among customers around the globe attest to the outstanding expertise offered by the AMG brand. As a one hundred percent subsidiary of Daimler AG, Mercedes-AMG GmbH has enjoyed a rapid rise to its present status. Today, the company is firmly integrated into Mercedes-Benz’s development processes. This close involvement right from the concept development stage for new models spawns high-performance automobiles which embody a perfect blend
of hallmark Mercedes-Benz genes and AMG features.

The SL Roadster adopts several styling cues from the popular Mercedes SLK. If you have an opportunity, make sure you head to the Detroit Auto Show beginning January 14th. For those of you that can’t make it, you won’t have to wait long, the 2013 Mercedes SL is set to hit showrooms this spring.

Added to which is uncompromising day-to-day suitability, which turns the SL into an incomparable all-rounder among sports cars. In short, anyone that talks about the new SL is bound to be talking about the ultimate in passionate, refined motoring.

Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars: “There are around 900 million cars in the world and thousands of models. 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 Preview: 2012 Detroit Auto Show

    Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

On the heels of a major leak, the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 has gone official, with full specs and details of the new R231, the sixth generation of the SL Class. This beauty wont debut until next year, but we here at this NJ Mercedes-Benz dealership can’t wait! Read here for all the latest news and photos, courtesy of Motor Authority!

Powered in SL550 form by a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V-8 engine rated at 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, it’s a significant upgrade over the previous SL550, with 47 more horsepower and 125 pound-feet more torque. Weighing in at up to 308 pounds less than the former SL, it is also lighter, helping it live up to its SL–Super Light–moniker.

That weight savings and extra power enables the new SL550 to claim a manufacturer-stated 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds.

The real story with the new SL is in the design, however. On the outside, the 2013 SL wears an all-new look that nevertheless draws on its heritage. The front end, for example, has hints of the R107 in it, with the upright grille, more vertical headlights, and character-lined hood. At the sides, accent folds and vent strakes are the key visual elements, flowing smoothly into the somewhat plain rear-quarters, which in turn blend into the expansive, slightly sloped rear deck, the large triangular tail lights, and the dual exhaust outlets in the rear bumper. The overall silhouette is intended to lose the broken wedge-like side surfaces of the R230 to give the R231 more of the look of the classic SLs.
