The miniatures have the classic SL proportions and an incredible attention to detail exterior and recreated interior

Are you a collector and would dream to have your very own Mercedes-Benz? Well you can, but it will only fit in the palm of your hand. The Mercedes-Benz SL is now available as a miniature collectable item. You can get your very own collectable designer package at our NJ Mercedes-Benz dealership in Union. Visit your local Mercedes-Benz dealership in New Jersey to get the latest Mercedes-Benz news and be sure to stop by for great deals on new and used Mercedes-Benz models.

Car enthusiasts have been dreaming of owning their own Mercedes-Benz SL for 60 years. But it is not just the genuine article in the garage that provokes covetous looks. High-grade miniatures of this luxury sports car have also long been sought after. Following the market launch of the new SL, the Mercedes-Benz Collection now includes the roadster – faithfully reproduced in every detail, down to the original paintwork – as 1:87, 1:43 and 1:18 scale models.

The miniatures match the classic SL proportions and an incredible attention to detail covering everything from the air outlets to the lovingly recreated interior. Developed using the original CAD data, the hand-assembled precision models are extraordinarily faithful to the original and comprise up to 104 component parts. The roadster roof is enclosed separately.

These collectors’ models, produced in partnership with the well-known manufacturers Herpa and Norev, are available from Mercedes-Benz sales and service outlets, Mercedes-Benz dealerships, the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the online shop.

All model cars in the Mercedes-Benz Collection come in Mercedes-Benz designer packaging. A screwdriver is enclosed with the 1:18 scale models, allowing the model to be removed from its screw-fastened packaging with the minimum of fuss. The cars also come with a glove to protect the miniature from fingerprints.

Mercedes-Benz is showing off their newly premiered 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, looking as bold and aggressive as it did in the photos. The SL Roadster adopts several styling cues from the popular Mercedes SLK. If you have an opportunity, make sure you head to the Detroit Auto Show beginning January 14th. For those of you that can’t make it, you won’t have to wait long, the 2013 Mercedes SL is set to hit showrooms this spring.

Compared with its successful predecessor, the new Mercedes-Benz SL offers considerably more comfort and sportiness, setting new standards in the luxury roadster class. Added to which is uncompromising day-to-day suitability, which turns the SL into an incomparable all-rounder among sports cars. In short, anyone that talks about the new SL is bound to be talking about the ultimate in passionate, refined motoring.

Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars: “There are around 900 million cars in the world and thousands of models. But there are only a handful of automotive icons. Our SL is one of them: it has class, it has style, it is the ultimate in comfort and luxury. But it combines all that with incredible sportiness and dynamism. You would struggle to find a car that embodies Gottlieb Daimler’s aspiration more perfectly than our new SL: the best or nothing.”

    2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 Preview: 2012 Detroit Auto Show

    Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

On the heels of a major leak, the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 has gone official, with full specs and details of the new R231, the sixth generation of the SL Class. This beauty wont debut until next year, but we here at this NJ Mercedes-Benz dealership can’t wait! Read here for all the latest news and photos, courtesy of Motor Authority!

Powered in SL550 form by a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V-8 engine rated at 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, it’s a significant upgrade over the previous SL550, with 47 more horsepower and 125 pound-feet more torque. Weighing in at up to 308 pounds less than the former SL, it is also lighter, helping it live up to its SL–Super Light–moniker.

That weight savings and extra power enables the new SL550 to claim a manufacturer-stated 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds.

The real story with the new SL is in the design, however. On the outside, the 2013 SL wears an all-new look that nevertheless draws on its heritage. The front end, for example, has hints of the R107 in it, with the upright grille, more vertical headlights, and character-lined hood. At the sides, accent folds and vent strakes are the key visual elements, flowing smoothly into the somewhat plain rear-quarters, which in turn blend into the expansive, slightly sloped rear deck, the large triangular tail lights, and the dual exhaust outlets in the rear bumper. The overall silhouette is intended to lose the broken wedge-like side surfaces of the R230 to give the R231 more of the look of the classic SLs.
