We’ve got the scoop on the 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class!  The 2013 S-Class was caught testing in Germany by photographers.

The new Mercedes S-Class is expected to be slightly larger in length than the current model based off of these spy shots that reveal a longer hood and wheelbase.  Additionally the new S-Class lineup will include several fuel efficient engines, along with a new plug-in hybrid.  According to Motor Authority:  “The new S550 should come with a 429 horsepower twin-turbo V-8, while the S600 should pick up a new iteration of the automaker’s twin-turbo V-12 with around 510 horsepower on tap. The AMG model will get a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 with around 550 horsepower.”

The next generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class was recently spotted, however as you can tell it is heavily camouflaged.  Currently, there isn’t much info out there about the next gen S-Class, although it will reportedly feature Mercedes-Benz’s new Mercedes Rear-wheel Architecture (MRA) technology.

BenzInsider reports: “The MRA platform will showcase a brand new four-link front suspension system that comes standard with air springs. Mercedes-Benz officials say that the MRA platform is extremely unique, being highly adaptable to differing road condition. The best about the MRA platform is that it allows Mercedes-Benz to play around with at least four new model variants of the 2013 S-Class, namely a short wheelbase, long wheelbase, coupe and four-seat convertible models.”

The S-Class will also have a lineup of V6, V8, and V12 engines available.

Come one, come all, we’ve got 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class spy photos!  Thanks to eMercedesBenz we’ve got our hands on the latest spy shots of the new S-Class, which was spotted driving down the streets of Germany.  Despite heavy camouflage, you can see that the new Mercedes S-Class seems to be longer in length and has a larger wheelbase.  Under the hood, the S-Class has a wide range of fuel efficient engines, with Mercedes’ new direct injection power plants providing a solid range to work with.  We can also probably expect S63 AMG and S65 AMG models as well.  Even though there isn’t much information known yet about the 2013 Mercedes S-Class, make sure to check back often for more updates about your favorite Mercedes-Benz vehicles!

The new 2012 S-Class will be offered in four different body styles in an attempt to appeal to a wider range of luxury car buyers: standard-wheelbase sedan (2012), extended-wheelbase sedan (2013), coupe (2013, replaces the CL), and four-seat convertible (2014).

The brand new S-Class will feature a new four-link front suspension designed to further decouple the steering, braking and damping forces. The Mercedes-Benz Active Body Control (ABC) system will be offered at an additional cost, but it can be combined with Magic Body Control (MBC) which employs cameras to scan the road at speeds up to 80 mph. MBC compensates for surface irregularities just milliseconds before the vehicle encounters them.

Mercedes-Benz’s new Magic Light Control (MLC) will add LED head lamps with free-flow light patterns that vary depending on the speed of the vehicle, weather conditions and steering angle. Under the hood, we’ll see an engine lineup ranging from a 200 hp 4-cylinder to a V-12 that’s been tested at 544 bhp.

Mercedes-Benz will be making waves with its flagship S-Class models when they go on sale in 2013 with a completely revamped interior with new design and quality standards.  The interior of the 2012 S-Class will look nothing like its predecessor; however hints of its design can be seen in the F800 Style that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show last year.  The new S-Class will bring less hard switches than the current model and it will integrate more contoured, marine-style wood and aluminum.   A heavy amount of new technology will be appearing in this flagship model including two forward-facing video cameras in the rear-view mirror console.  Check out this interior shot and stay tuned for more information about the future Mercedes-Benz S-Class model.

Today, eMercedesBenz has reported that Mercedes-Benz USA had June sales of 18,997 vehicles, an increase of 25.4%.  On a year-to-date basis, the company sold 106,967 new vehicles, an increase of 25.7% over last year.

“Impressive gains were made in both the Mercedes-Benz passenger car and light-truck categories. The strongest performer for the month was the popular C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger as well as first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – with sales of 5,563. The 9th generation E-Class also continued to exhibit strong momentum with sales of 4,865 (up 74.9%) and the versatile M-Class SUV ranked third with sales of 2,124.

The company’s flagship sedan, the S-Class, boosted sales to 1,549 – a 106.5% increase. Also showing strong gains were the sporty SLK (up 153.8 %) and the commanding G-Class (up 124.3%). The company also sold 50 of its newly launched supercar, the SLS AMG, bringing its year-to-date sales to 218.”

The recently released J.D. Power and Associates quality survey shows Mercedes-Benz achieving its best results since 1990 in the American market. The Initial Quality Study (IQS) assessed the as-delivered quality of vehicles from model year 2010 after 90 days.

“The quality of our vehicles is at an all-time high. An independent survey for the US market has now confirmed what our internal analyses and European studies have been showing for some time now,” noted Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the Board of Management with responsibility for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development at Daimler AG.

Even since 2009 Mercedes-Benz has improved in quality by going up three places to third place.  The C-Class took first place in the premium entry-level segment, while the new E-Class got off to a great start in both its saloon and coupe versions, notching up a second place, as did the redesigned S-Class.

This week Mercedes-Benz USA reported a 26.7% increase in their May 2010 sales, continuing the second quarter with a 25.8% increase on a year-to-date basis. Included in this total are 18,548 passenger cars, light truck vehicles and 628 Sprinter vans.

Impressive gains were made in both the Mercedes-Benz passenger car and light-truck categories. The strongest performer of the month was the 9th generation E-Class – which expanded to include the wagon and cabriolet models – with sales of 5,476 (up 140.7%).

The company’s flagship sedan, the S-Class, marked increased gains with sales of 1,085 (up 21.2%) and the newly introduced supercar and brand halo – the SLS AMG – reported strong initial sales of 168. The top performer on the luxury light truck side was the versatile M-Class SUV with sales of 2,264.

So far year-to-date sales for MBUSA include 87,970 new vehicles, an increase of 25.8% over last year.

“The innovative SplitView system in Mercedes-Benz S-Class and CL-Class automobiles provides personalized visual content to the car’s driver and front-seat passenger. While the driver adjusts the radio, navigation system, or other controls on the left side of the SplitView screen, passengers can watch a DVD video on the right side of the screen; a special filter permits each screen to be viewed only from certain angles so the driver is not distracted by the passengers’ movie or show. SplitView’s 8-inch active-matrix color display is integrated into the vehicle’s navigation, audio, and entertainment system.”
