Exciting news coming from Daimler AG this week. Mercedes-Benz’s AMG SLS Gullwing has been bumped up on the production line by two years.  Previously the electric supercar was going to debut in 2015, but now it is slated for 2013.

AMG’s managing director Volkmer Mornhinweg has driven the prototype and promises the car will be just as thrilling as the original AMG SLS model.  Mornhinweg described being behind the wheel of the new prototype as an “amazing kind of experience”.

The AMG SLS Gulliwing calls for four motors with a combined output of 536 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque.  The all-wheel drive electric supercar will also be modeling the same bodywork as the original SLS.

Mornhinweg had made the following statement to Australia’s GoAuto.com, “We can take (out) a combustion engine and transaxle and make no changes to the body, and we can put in two motors with the gearbox in the rear, two motors and the gearbox in the front and we can take the center console as a battery place – it looks like a T and it is perfect.”

Mercedes news from NJ Mercedes dealer, Ray Catena Mercedes Benz of EdisonForbes recently featured this write-up about the Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG. We couldn’t be more excited about the incredible things they had to say about this Mercedes Benz model.  Check it out below, or head over to Forbes to read more.

Exterior: Simply put, the car is beautiful for a four-door sedan-like model–but its four doors don’t distract from the coupe-like appeal it has. The rear is slightly raised, with angular tail lights and a rounded trunk door. The AMG badges and detailing add to its allure.

Interior: AMG’s presence is felt everywhere inside the car, from the door-sill panels and the AMG-made leather sport seats to the sport steering wheel and sport pedals. The biggest bonus? The car doesn’t have the steering-wheel-mounted shifter and old-fashioned radio dial found in most other Mercedes vehicles.

Handling: The CLS lives up to the AMG name in every way. Maneuverability is superb, as are acceleration and braking. It’ll do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.”

test drive the latest Mercedes models at this NJ Mercedes dealerWe recently read on emgCarTech that the Mercedes Benz is planning on making a high-performance AMG version of the all new B-Class car.  At first, we thought this new AMG B-Class car would look something like the B-lass wagon, but think again! As emgCarTech said, “While it’s true that Mercedes-Benz AMG division will be doing a high-performance compact car based on the next-generation B-Class, the model will look something more like the F800 Style Concept shown at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show last month.”  We’re huge fans of the F800 Style Concept for many reasons, and there’s no denying one of it’s greatest assets is its beatiful design.  Now not only will we have a compact performance version of the B-Class, but it will also look like the F800 Style Concept? Dreams really do come true!  To read more about this, head on over to emgCarTech.

We’ll admit it, we’re a little bit obsessed with the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, but look at this car! It’s incredible.  The folks over at Inside Line recently posted some awesome shots (and a great article) of the 2011 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG driving on ice-covered roads.  This hit a soft spot for us, since our Mercedes Benz dealers in New Jersey have been dealing with the harsh winter weather elements for several weeks now.  Driving on ice is definitely unsafe, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t a professional driver.  But, boy does the winter white background made this car look sleek!
