Spy Shots: 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class Caught Testing
We’ve got spy shots of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class caught testing with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster thanks to eMercedesBenz. The GL prototype shown in sporting AMG wheels and a high-performance braking system that may indicate that it is a GL63 AMG. However, it could be just a standard GL-Class model with the AMG Performance Package. The camouflaged prototype also has a larger grille, bold front fascia, and the overall design is larger. Engine options are likely to include a twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 with 435 PS (320 kW / 429 HP) and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with up to 258 PS (190 kW / 255 HP). On the other hand, the GL63 AMG is expected to use a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 544 PS (400 kW / 537 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
Expect the GL-Class and SLS AMG Roadster to make a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next year.
