While the next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class is scheduled to arrive in 2015, the automaker is sending the 2013 model under the knife for a face-lift. A prototype wagon version of the refreshed midsizer was caught in public with its new face partially covered up.

We’ve already reported on some of the changes coming to the refreshed version of the popular Benz such as ditching the current model’s quad headlamps in favor of two single-piece units and, judging from the photo, it appears the headlights underneath the camo are simpler and sleeker. The LED daytime running lights also appear to be integrated in the headlight unit instead of their usual place on the bumper.

Although changes to the rear bumper don’t appear to be dramatic, minor revisions to the taillights should shake up the E-Class sedan and wagon’s design enough before the new model arrives in a few years.

The test mule wears minimal camouflage everywhere else, which could indicate minimal changes for the front doors and windows, though the Ponton-style rear side doors may be ditched on the 2013 E-Class. We expect the 2013 E350′s V-6 to get a boost in power and the E550 to get a more powerful and efficient single-turbo V-8.

Car enthusiasts have been dreaming of owning their own Mercedes-Benz SL for 60 years. But it is not just the genuine article in the garage that provokes covetous looks. High-grade miniatures of this luxury sports car have also long been sought after. Following the market launch of the new SL, the Mercedes-Benz Collection now includes the roadster – faithfully reproduced in every detail, down to the original paintwork – as 1:87, 1:43 and 1:18 scale models.

The miniatures match the classic SL proportions and an incredible attention to detail covering everything from the air outlets to the lovingly recreated interior. Developed using the original CAD data, the hand-assembled precision models are extraordinarily faithful to the original and comprise up to 104 component parts. The roadster roof is enclosed separately.

These collectors’ models, produced in partnership with the well-known manufacturers Herpa and Norev, are available from Mercedes-Benz sales and service outlets, Mercedes-Benz dealerships, the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the online shop.

All model cars in the Mercedes-Benz Collection come in Mercedes-Benz designer packaging. A screwdriver is enclosed with the 1:18 scale models, allowing the model to be removed from its screw-fastened packaging with the minimum of fuss. The cars also come with a glove to protect the miniature from fingerprints.

CENTRAL AND SOUTH JERSEY GRANTS

It’s a busy spring here for Komen Central and South Jersey.  Your donations are at work in our communities as our new grant cycle begins.  We are pleased to announce that we are funding $1.5 million through 25 community programs to provide breast cancer education and mammography  screening programs that address healthcare barriers and reach those who need it the most.  Our priorities are determined by our Community Profile which is conducted every two years. RFP’s are posted in September with mandatory training for potential grantees, followed by a rigorous review process by an independent committee.   You can download a list of our grant directory which also outlines the granting process.  Thank you to our committee volunteers including breast cancer survivors, medical professionals, public health experts and academics for their hard work.

Seventy-five percent of our revenue supports local programs. The remaining 25% supports breast cancer research programs that run the spectrum of breast cancer prevention, causes, and treatment options.  For a list of Komen funded research programs, click here.

It’s been announced that the new Mercedes AMG C-Class Coupe will be the Safety Car for the 2012 DTM season. The Mercedes C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series will provide all the necessary safety for the DTM series, the world’s most popular touring car series. With a maximum output of 380 kW (517 hp), this two-seater is the most powerful C-Class of all time. The German Touring Car Masters (DTM) gets underway at the Hockenheimring on 29 April 2012.

The Safety Car is deployed under the direction of the German Motorsport Association (DMSB), which is responsible for implementing safety measures, ensuring compliance with safety standards and discharging the attendant official sporting functions in accordance with the DTM rules. The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series Safety Car driven by racing driver Jürgen Kastenholz (44) is intended to ensure maximum safety for racing drivers, spectators and track marshals in case of dangerous situations, such as extreme weather conditions, accidents or other incidents. In response to a radio message from the race organisers, the Safety Car enters the track and leads the DTM field around the circuit until normal racing can be resumed.

The most powerful C-Class of all time stands for spectacular design, technology transfer from the field of motorsport and driving dynamics of the very highest calibre. As such, the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series only required modification to a few points of detail for deployment as the DTM Safety Car. The most striking feature distinguishing it from the series production version is the aerodynamically optimised light bar on the roof. Energy-efficient, fast-response LEDs in green and orange keep the DTM racing drivers informed of the current situation.

Following the recent debut of the brand new generation GL-Class at the New York Auto Show earlier this month, Mercedes is getting ready to slap on some twin-turbo magic and a couple of AMG badges.

Yes, this is the brand GL63 AMG, the only 500+ horsepower hot Mercedes with seven seats. Ridiculous, isn’t it? But you definitely don’t want to mess with the monster in these spy photos we’ve provided you with, right?!

The real muscle power of this car is in its new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, producing slightly more power and torque than the 6.2-liter it replaces. This new engine should pack 544 horsepower in its base form, and 571 horsepower if you decide to unshackle it and opt for the AMG Performance Pack.

WESTFIELD — The Board of Westfield Symphony Orchestra and its Friends’ group will be celebrating the role the arts play in the daily life of the community with its annual gala under the theme, “Simple Gifts!” on the evening of Saturday April 28 at Echo Lake Country Club.

In making the announcement earlier this week, Mark Fleder, President of the WSO Board of Trustees, also shared the news that Mercedes Benz dealer Ray Catena of Union will be the Gala Sponsor for this year’s activities which will include a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner and dancing to a 10-piece band as well as live and silent auctions.

“We are thrilled and honored to be associated with such a crucial fundraising event,” remarked Sue Hengstler, Financial Controller for Ray Catena of Union. “There are very few suburban towns across America with an orchestra of this caliber. We have been constantly dazzled over the years by its performances and we are delighted to help ensure that Westfield and the surrounding community will have access to this fine music for many years to come,” added John Weber, Ray Catena Sales and Leasing Representative.

In addition to a 50/50 cash raffle, there will be an array of unique items and experiences for auction. Some of the items to be auctioned during the evening by Assemblyman Jon Bramnick include get-away packages to exotic locations, a day cruise aboard a private yacht, premium ticket packages for Giants football and Rangers hockey games, eclectic New York dining, and, of course, the traditional opportunity to take Maestro Wroe’s baton and conduct the Westfield Symphony.

A silent auction of items donated by over 70 local retailers, restaurants and businesses has also been put together. The Silent Auction will run throughout the evening which will culminate in the drawing of the winners for the 50-50 cash raffle. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Symphony office and winners need not be present to claim a prize.

In his statement, Fleder also acknowledged the outstanding generosity of corporate sponsors PNC Wealth Management and Fragomen, Del Rey, Bersen & Loewy, LLP commenting, “The arts are again taking a fiscal hit this year and it is essential that we rally to fill the gap in public funding in order to continue the WSO tradition of live music within our community.

Invitations and raffle tickets have been mailed to Westfield Symphony Orchestra subscribers and supporters, but attendance, which is capped at 200 due to space constraints, is open to the public.

The new 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was officially unveiled to the world today with interior and exterior updates

It was just recently announced today that the Mercedes-Benz G-Class was officially unveiled to the world with its interior and exterior updates.  We can’t wait for the new G-class model to arrive at our NJ Mercedes-Benz dealership showroom in June! For lovers of Mercedes’ most classic model, the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was officially unveiled to the world today, well in advance of its June launch. Maintaining its legendary design that’s noted worldwide accolade over the past 30 years, the facelifted 2013 G-Class and G63 AMG offer the perfect amount of updates while staying true to its heritage.

Exterior modifications include new LED daytime driving lamps and new exterior mirrors, while the AMG version also features a new, characteristic AMG radiator grille with double louvers and new bumpers with large air intakes. More options include red brake calipers and 20-inch wheels, available for the first time.

The major changes to the updated G-Class can be seen on the inside, where a completely redesigned center console and instrument panel have been added.  Features include new controls and updated trim as well as a TFT color display in the instrument cluster between the two round gauges. A large color screen positioned in the center is part of the COMAND system, and it incorporates a DVD changer as well as the standard COMAND Controller.

Engine options for the 2013 G-Class include the powerful 5.5-litre V8 gasoline engine in the G550, which has an output of 388 hp and 391 lb-ft. of torque.  As is to be expected, the engine is mated to the familiar 7-speed automatic transmission. This is now the sixth generation of the stepped automatic transmission that has been developed and produced by Mercedes-Benz (starting from 1960), and it has once again been thoroughly revised and optimized in regard to both consumption and comfort.  And for the power hungry among you, a new G63 AMG with V8 biturbo engine outputting 544 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque has been added to the lineup, which features the ECO stop/stop system as standard.
